I dreamed a dream.....

I think I'll have a post later, after work, about an emotional Sunday.

Since I'm actually up early this morning, I wanted to share a strange dream that I had before I forgot it! :

For some reason I was attending service at my old church (LCMS)....actually the premise of the service was that our congregation needed to borrow their sanctuary for the day. Annd the current pastor at their church presided(who I honestly don't really know...but for a brief introduction).....although it was a mix of both congregations.....Anyway....it's time for communion....and we're all bringing up metal spaghetti type pots(?). When I get up there (I'm already copping an attitude in my head because technically, I'm no longer welcome at an LCMS table). As we're approaching the rail, Pastor X is dealing out the elements like snacks for preschoolers, or a poker dealer. The elements are: a freeze-dried sweet potato chip (bread), tiny white wine juice boxes....and for an extra bonus: two freeze-dried pickle chips for each person. I scoff "This is how you distribute the body and blood of Christ? and what's with the pickles?" Pr X "Are you going to complain about extra food from Christ?" Me: "And you aren't even going to do the words of institution???". Some random, argument or whatnot from Pr X.
I say "No thank you, please just offer me a blessing." Pr X starts diggin in on me and we get into an argument about Grace. I leave....in the narthex are parishoners waiting for the next service...and then I run into someone who I've known.....but I can't remember now who it was.

There ends the dream.

Interesting no? Okay Amateur Freud's....have a field day.

Listen........

Well, I'm set to go to the ELCA youth Gathering in July, the NE Synod Assembly in June.....and I think somewhere along the line.....I'm going to arrange a visit to Philadelphia. There's a call in my heart that began as a whisper a few years ago....but has become a yell..............

So What Kind of Ice Cream?

And the winner is.......

LutheranChik's "Take Next Sunday Off" or a variant "Sleep In Next Sunday" shall be on a smaller cake that I am adding to the planned desserts :)

WillSmama's "You Were Called, We Were Blessed" I believe will win the big cake.

Thanks to all for playing! If you really want, I'll send you a piece....but...I imagine the whipped cream frosting will go bad.....so i'll just send you peace :)

Note to self, don't look at a conservative LCMS blogs again. Just don't do it.

I suppose I could ask Hymn...

It's going to drive me nuts.....

A not uncommon thing at choir practice....is that we'll preview the hymns for Sunday to make sure we all remember how they go. Frequently, we'll go through a song (in the LBW) and I'll be SURE that I know it to different words from my childhood in the LCMS. This week's hymn in question:

# 343 in the 'Green Book':
"Guide Me Ever, Great Redeemer"

Tune by John Hughes.....same tune for # 415 in LBW. Anyone know if there is yet another set of lyrics set to this?

To the Rev's in the audience...

Question:

Do you know of a source for clergy tabbed or collared shirts (mens actually) that come in some sort of green? It seems Friar Tuck makes every other litergical color.......
This is a potential ordination gift for a well coordinated fellow.
