ARGH!

HOLY COW!
I got my second packet from the seminary. I didn't finish going through the first one. It is so hard to try and get through all this AND finish a hectic job and ALL of the crazy details in selling a home and getting ones affairs in order.

I'm overwhelmed! Today's packet was the registration one. I'm expecting to see a statement of fees specific to me including my financial aid and scholarship....but no.....and it asks for payment with the completed registration in a month....WAH? I need someone to hold my hand initially here. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big girl....but. ......perhaps I'm also spoiled by the fact that even the smallest of state colleges have online registration now....but i'm staring at really wordy photocopy packets......the scheduling bit...my goodness is a MESS! Who put this together???

This HAS to be easier as a pipeliner who's just coming from undgrad and living in mom and dad's basement.

I could be tired and cranky too.....but I do feel overwhelmed by the sheer number of appointments and details that I still need to iron out before i move.

Don't be so scared of changing and rearranging...

Well hello there!
I think that I tend to post when I'm stressed or in moods. So, I thought I would post right now as I am in a good mood! The limited amount of days left in my current job....have become a reality in my head. On this evening, with relaxing thunderstorms (the sort that just rumbles and flashes in the distance) I am feeling rejuvenated, renewed, and excited. I'm getting excited about my July. While it will involve the whole packing/moving thing. It will be the first summer in a while in which I could enjoy more than one consecutive day NOT working. I'm excited for seminary. I'm thrilled to be moving on.

I feel as though I am reclaiming my former self. I feel free. I think of lyrics from a few songs. like fascinatin' rhythm ... "oh how I long to be the gal, I used to be" and then I launch into the whole of Georgie Girl.

I got a haircut this evening. Or should I say, I got them all cut! I think I must've lost a pound or two! HA. There are some people, like my family, who like to compliment me when my hair has gotten long.....as if to discourage the idea of me having shorter hair. Why? I don't know. But, I wanted shorter hair darnit! So I have it! I was even toying with the idea of doing a purple wash! Because I could! To amuse myself, my friends and my soon to be ex-coworkers. Alas, I could not find a box of it.

How could would it be to do liturgically colored hair during sem? Think that would be frowned upon?

Sigh. Okay...that's it.

Were you dropped on your head?

Oh my. The day of my previous post turned into an interesting one! I won't get into the details....but at work at the start of the game I was taking pictures.....and a team dancer did a backflip into me....and knocked my head into the floor....and I got a concussion! (Still nauseous yuck!) I got back from getting checked out and the boss didn't want to go out to dinner. So I told her. I said "I'm leaving" she said "good for you!" (and meant it) "where are you going?" she asked "seminary" i said..and she gave me a hug then made me tell the big boss. So now, everyone knows. I have to keep explaining to some coworkers that i'm not Catholic, I'm not becoming a nun, I like things like beer and progressive movements..... etc. :)

Now is the fun of tying up the five million ends that I need to do. And PACK, and continue to eliminate stuff. Wee.

I think I actually will be a little sad to leave my work. It'd be easier to leave in the off-season. This time of year has a lot of fun blended in with the usual BS. I mean, I HAVE been going there almost every day for the past 6 years. Crazy. I can't believe it's been that long.

Ahh well, you see my countdown!

Synod Assembly and "Dropping the Bomb"

So, I went up to one day of synod assembly. I am a church geek as much as our friend Mark, and I enjoy them! So, sue me! There are many people that I like to catch up with. There are particularly a few pastors who I met a few years back at my first assembly when I was discerning, who were kinda inspirational to me. It's great to see them. I really enjoyed telling them how I was approved entrance and starting school soon. The support and love was just wonderful!

I stayed late to have drinks with my wonderful friends and mentors. This part is so important to me that I drove home in the wee hours of the morning just so I could stay and chat. Of course, the next day I had a 14 hour day of work ahead of me! After all of the support, and with so little sleep and my intended end date at work fast approaching...I wasn't sure how well I would hold off on giving notice of my leaving til my planned day (Sunday....we have work this week).

Only one of my coworkers has known of my plans and he's done a great job of keeping it to himself and being supportive as well. I have another coworker, who just joined us this winter who I have been DYING to tell. She's become a great friend. I got my chance, interestingly enough yesterday. I was EXHAUSTED from lack of sleep. This coworker happened to finally out herself to me as a gay woman in the morning (Rock on coworker!). I couldn't ignore that moment of openness so I asked her if she could keep something to herself...closed the door and told her that I was leaving. It was liberating but I can't tell you how much I feel as though I am abandoning her and the other coworker. I know the move must happen and it will be a wonderful change. As I said to one of my assembly mentors, I've never been so sure of anything in my life.

My coworker is joining me for dinner after work Sunday to which I've invited my boss and intend to tell her. It will be interesting. I anticipate shock, a sense of loss on her part (not that i'm irreplaceable, really...i am) and then I imagine she'll be supportive and on board. We've had many theological conversations and she knows how important the church is in my life.

So there you go....things are moving along. I'm discovering that it really is a wise move to take July off. I can't wait.
