Man oh man!
Today was "Good Riddance Sunday"....er....well okay more like Godspeed Sunday.
My "last" day with the home congregation before I take off to seminary.
I had volunteered a few weeks back to preach. Which...made for a stressful weekend trying to finish writing (so hard to focus with other things to do!). I was also assisting minister, so I was fully engaged today!
I'm very close to our musical ministers (a couple), so I started to get verklempt during the music for gathering. She always picks songs very intentionally. I preached, and pulled it off (phew). Did I mention, a bunch of my family were there.
I got a little misty at the end during the sending rite. Then I was told to perch by the door to coffee hour. I have never been hugged so much in my life. I got more misty then.
People had made lots of food. There two cakes! This was considered a fundraiser and had a "tip jar" for checks. Our buddies at thri to the vent will be matching. Then....the choir did a song for me. The music ministers are known for writing parody song when there are significant events. Brilliant and fun songs. They wrote one for me! What an honor.
It was all just so, overwhelming. I haven't been able to do anything else today because I am just.....I don't know. I kept using the term "full". Kind of like after Thanksgiving dinner when you're so stuffed with good things that you can't move.
Ahh well, decompression then more packing.
